Box Score The Maryville College Lady Scots basketball team rolled to 4-1 on the season with a 79-66 road win over Birmingham Southern College in Birmingham, Alabama on Tuesday evening.
Mackenzie Puckett found her shooting touch with an 11-for-20 effort from the floor for a game-high 23 points. MC out paced the Panthers 44-30 at the half and limited the non-conference foe to a 39% shooting night from the floor that included a 2-for-14 effort from beyond the arc. The Scots forced 13 turnovers while recording 10 steals during the challenge.
Maryville shot 52% from the floor, dishing out 21 team assists during the victory. Adding to the Scots' offensive attack was Lauren Burnett. The senior guard hit a pair of treys en route to a 10-point evening. Linley Dunn and Kelsey Brown were strong in the post with eight points each combining to shoot 7-for-12 for the game. Dunn added six rebounds. MC was paced on the boards by Alex Bond, finishing with 7 rebounds and 6 points. Mindy Brackins and Jordan Ballard each tossed in 7 points.
"I was very pleased with our offensive execution tonight," stated Coach Darrin Travillian. "We really moved the ball well and got great looks. I was also very happy with our shot distribution and willingness to share the ball."
Birmingham Southern falls to 2-2 on the season. The Scots will put their two-game winning streak on the line December 1st when they travel to Emory University.
