Box Score Maryville College's Mindy Brackins exploded for 20 points while leading the Scots past Huntingdon College by the score of 75-67 on Saturday afternoon in Montgomery, Alabama.
Despite being out rebounded 51-32, the Scots limited the Hawks to 38% shooting while hitting over 44% of their shots including a 33% effort from beyond the arc.
Maryville took a four point lead into the half (39-35) and maintained their advantage by out scoring their USA South host 36-32 in the closing half.
Huntingdon (15-6, 7-5 USA South) was led by Pat Pickens' 23 points while Tan Munford posted a game-high 14 rebounds.
Maryville (19-3, 12-1 USA South) extended their win streak to 11 games when Brackins hit 9-of-13 shots while grabbing five rebounds. Alex Bond was strong as a forward with nine points and a team-high seven rebounds. Lauren Burnett tossed in 15 points after hitting a trio of treys while Lauren Trent added 11 points with three connections from beyond the arc. Lailah Farmer became MC's all-time assist leader with four assists while adding nine points to MC's offensive attack.
"This was a great win on the road against a very good Huntingdon team," stated MC Head Coach Darrin Travillian. "I was proud of our toughness and determination throughout the game."
MC will complete their USA South southern weekend swing with a challenge against LaGrange College in Georgia on Sunday afternoon. Tip-off is slated for 1:00.
