Box Score The Maryville College Lady Scots basketball team fell in the USA South Championship game to tournament host Ferrum College by the score of 64-50 on Saturday afternoon.
Maryville's Lauren Trent deposited five three-pointers for a game-high 15 points, but the Panthers countered with a balanced attack that featured three double digit scorers.
Ferrum took a 31-25 into the half, but expanded their lead when MC could only manage a 27% shooting effort from the floor. The Scots out rebounded Ferrum 40-33, but the nationally ranked Panthers deposited 47% of their shots for the game.
Maryville (22-6) was led by Trent's perimeter attack that featured a 5-for-11 effort from beyond the arc. Lauren Burnett and Kelsey Brown each deposited nine points with Burnett leading all players on the boards with 11.
Ferrum (26-2) was paced by Katy Kipps' 14 points while Jacole Hairston and Shea Smith netted 12 and 11 respectively.
The Panthers will advance to the NCAA national tournament on the USA South's automatic bid while Maryville will await a possible selection on Monday after being ranked as high as No.4 in the South region polls.
