Hawn leads first-quarter surge in 68-49 win over Averett

Box Score

Maryville College faced off with USA South Eastern Division foe Averett University on Sunday afternoon, as the Scots came away victorious, 68-49, during the East-West Classic in Danville, Va.

Maryville faced off with Averett today, and they look to take on Ferrum College tomorrow. Neither game counts as a USA South match-up, after the conference went to only divisional play this year.

Samm Chandler had a matched MC's Hawn with 17 points, as she shot 6-of-20 (30 percent) from the floor. She had six rebounds, an assist and a steal for the Cougars.

Frida Lundquist had 10 points, while Amani Ajayi matched Chandler for a team-high six rebounds. Joelle Deese had five steals to lead Averett.
