LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - A strong second-half comeback by Maryville fell short as MC was defeated by Covenant 3-2 in the CCS Tournament Semifinals.

Covenant came out in the first half on fire, scoring three goals in the first 24 minutes of the match.

The first goal came on a penalty kick taken by Jay Patterson in the 14th minute, giving covenant a 1-0 lead early.

Just four minutes later, in the 18th minute, Kade Theunissen found the net on a deep shot. Keegan Weekley and Whitt Tisdale each picked up goals on the play.

The final Covenant goal came in the 24th minute off the right foot of Nathan Laughlin on a pass from Theunissen.

Down 3-0 in the second half, Maryville didn't go down without a fight. Thanks to two goals from
Walker Settles, the Scots pulled  within goal one with 25 minutes remaining but were unable to complete the comeback.

Settle's goals came in the 61st and 65th minutes of the contest. For the sophomore, those were the first and second goals of his collegiate career.

Maryville has been eliminated from CCS Championship contention. They finished the season with an overall record of 5-8-5 and a conference record of 4-1-1.
