MARYVILLE – The Scots are advancing to the semifinals of the CCS Women's Soccer Tournament after defeating Berea 5-1 in the quarterfinal matchup Saturday night.
Anabelle Procter led the Scots offense in this match, scoring a team-high two goals while finishing second on the squad with four shots. She now has five goals on the season.
Procter's first goal of the night came after a corner kick in the 17th minute.
Hannah Smoot lofted the ball into the box where Procter was perfectly positioned to put the ball in the net with a header.
The Scots would score again in the 42nd minute, this time off the foot of
Delaney Muldoon.
Katie O'Brien recorded an assist on the play.
Just five minutes later, in the 47th minute, Procter scored her second goal of the game, again on a pass from Smoot. Smoot now has multiple assists in two-straight matches. The CCS Rookie of the Year has a team-high eight assists on the season.
Berea scored in the 51st minute on a spectacular 30-yard strike from Alyssa Tittsworth. The sophomore leads the Mountaineers with 8 goals.
Sierra Lee scored her 13th goal of the season in the 54th minute, putting the ball in the back of the net from 10-yards out.
Hailey Cartt picked up the assist on the play.
The Scots' final goal came from
Chloe Chase on an assist by Lee in the 64th minute of play. This marks Chase's fourth goal of the season.
Looking ahead, Maryville will play host to Belhaven on Wednesday as the two teams face off in the semifinals of the CCS Women's Soccer Tournament. The Scots have already defeated the Blazers once this season, recording a 2-0 victory in September.
