ST. LOUIS – Maryville fell 3-1 Saturday afternoon against Fontbonne in St. Louis.
The Scots' lone goal came in the 85th minute off the foot of senior defender
Noah Putman, for his first goal of the season.
The Scot once again found themselves with the shot advantage in this contest outshooting the Griffins 19-17.
Fontbonne kicked off the scoring in the match with a 20th-minute goal from Alex Wigge. The game would remain 1-0 for the next 60 minutes of play.
The Griffins doubled their lead in the 81st minute on a goal from Joe Noah. Putman would quickly cut that lead in half, but Noah struck again with his second goal of the game in the 90th minute to stop the Maryville rally in its tracks.
The Scots have a few days off before hitting the road again, this time traveling to Lexington, Kentucky for a regional matchup against Transylvania on Thursday. Kick off for that match is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
