Scots Fall to Asbury 1-0

Eagles Score Early to Outlast MC in Kentucky

WILMORE, Ky. – An early first-half goal was too much to overcome as Maryville dropped a hard-fought match against league foe Asbury on the road Tuesday night.

The Scots dropped to 4-8-2 overall and 1-2 in the Collegiate Conference of the South while the Eagles improved to 6-3-3 and 2-1 in the CCS.

Asbury took the lead in the 16th minute on a goal from Ryan Kim, his third of the season. Austin Dunlap recorded an assist on the play.

Kim found the back of the net on a wide-open goal after making a move past the Maryville goalkeeper who moved up to make a play on the ball.

Following the goal, It was a defensive showdown as neither team had many offensive opportunities for the rest of the contest.

The Eagles outshot MC 7-4 in the contest. Both squads had two shots on goal. Hayden Tate, Craig McIlwraith, Jorge Graniel, and Ben Slay each recorded a shot for the Scots.

Maryville looks to get back on track on Wednesday, returning to the MC Soccer Complex for a match against CCS-foe and fellow Scots of Covenant. That match is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m.
