Scots Shine With Season High

Offense Puts Up Season Best 91 Points in Win Over Warren Wilson

MARYVILLE -  Offense was the night's theme for the Maryville Scots in their 91-51 thrashing of Warren Wilson here Wednesday. That tally marks the team's highest total since Feb. 10, 2022, when they defeated Wesleyan 94-39. 

Emma HuskeyElla Haney, and Halle Kitchen all scored in double digits to lift Maryville to its season-high. Husky totaled a season-best 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting against the Owls while leading her team on the boards with seven rebounds.

Maryville outscored Warren Wilson in numerous key stats, including in the paint by a margin of 58-14, and on fast break points 20-3. The Scots bench had another stellar performance, garnering an impressive 43 points compared to the Owls 10.

Women's Basketball Defeats Warren Wilson

Kadence Stoner, Ella Haney, Braxton Fritz, and Reagan Brown all contributed to the effort with eight points apiece. While Fritz was on the floor, the team totaled a game-best +26 point differential. She made her presence felt on both ends of the floor, with team highs in assists (six) and steals (four).

Not to be outshone by the offense, the Scots stingy defense held their own as well. Racking up 13 steals and forcing 20 turnovers, Head Coach Darrin Travillian's squad has put two terrific games together in the new year. In back-to-back games, his team has forced a total of 46 turnovers and swiped 30 steals, while also holding the teams to 30% shooting from the floor. MC also put up season high scoring efforts in back-to-back games, totaling 166, the best since scoring 170 in games on Dec. 15 & 16 of 2022. 

With Saturday's matchup at Belhaven postponed due to snowy weather, Maryville sees the court next on Tuesday at home against conference foe Asbury.
