ORLANDO, Fla. – Maryville dropped a 7-0 decision to Hampden-Sydney on Day 2 of its Spring Break trip to Florida.
The Scots competed for the doubles point but could not capture a set.
Pedro Cunha and
Gabriel Villalonga Serra came the closest, losing 6-4 at the No. 3 position.
James Smith and
Luka Romano went down 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and
Eli Cauthorn and
Jackson Meyer fell 6-2 at the No. 2 position.
In singles, Hampden-Sydney made it 2-0 with a win over Cunha at No. 3.
Jonathan Crane fell at the No. 5 position and then Meyer lost at No. 4 to complete the victory for the Tigers.
Ian Martin at No. 6 singles lost 6-3, 6-3, and then Smith at the No. 1 position fought to a 6-4, 7-5 defeat. The match concluded at No. 2 singles, with Romano fighting through a pair of tiebreakers but dropping his match 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (8-6).
Maryville is back in action Tuesday against Northwestern-St. Paul in a 6:30 p.m. start.
