MARYVILLE, Tenn. – Maryville men's soccer earned its first tie of the season with a 1-1 draw against Brevard on Sunday afternoon at the MC Soccer Complex.
Brevard opened the scoring in the 23
rd minute when Rio Abutbul finished a pass from Tristan Bayssade. The Scots answered just eight minutes later as
Brady Hammer found the back of the net off an assist from
Will Gallaher at 31:01.
Neither side could break the deadlock in the second half despite several chances. Maryville goalkeeper
Tanner Ricks made four saves, while Brevard's Manuel Tovar Hagstrom collected six stops to keep the match even.
Hammer led the Scots' attack with five shots, including four on goal.
Jonathan Case added two more shots, and
Ben Brophy registered one on frame. Both sides finished with 14 total shots and five corner kicks.
The draw moves Maryville to 0-1-1 overall, while Brevard also sits at 0-1-1. The Scots return to the pitch on Wednesday, September 3
rd at 7:30 PM to take on the Johnson University Royals.
