MARYVILLE, Tenn. – Maryville College Director of Athletics
Andrew Wu has announced the hiring of
Mark Paluszak as the new Head Coach for the Scots' Men's Golf program.
Wu expressed his excitement about the addition, stating,
"I'm thrilled to introduce Coach Paluszak as our new Head Coach for Men's Golf. Mark is a proven program builder and has national championship experience as a player and a coach. He has a palpable enthusiasm about our team and our potential, and his drive to continue the program's growth is encouraging and exciting."
Paluszak, a decorated player and experienced coach, brings a strong history of success on the course and as a coach. As a standout golfer at Otterbein College, he was a three-time All-Conference, All-District, and All-American selection. In 1995, he placed second individually at the NCAA Division III National Championship, firing the tournament's low round with a 68.
Paluszak then returned to his alma mater as the head coach of Otterbein's men's and women's golf programs. Under his leadership, both teams captured Ohio Athletic Conference championships, with nine of ten starters earning All-Conference honors. He coached both men's and women's OAC Tournament Medalists, was named OAC Coach of the Year for each program and guided the men's team to a 13th-place finish and the women's team to a 15th-place finish at the NCAA Division III National Championships.
Paluszak currently serves as the head coach at Buckeye Valley High School, where in four seasons he led the program to two sectional titles, four district tournament appearances, and 11 tournament wins. He was named Coach of the Year once during his tenure and mentored 32 student-athletes to all-conference or all-district honors.
Paluszak shared his enthusiasm about joining the Maryville College athletics family, saying,
"I want to thank Athletic Director Andrew Wu, President Dr. Coker, and the search committee for giving me the opportunity to lead the Men's Golf program. I am both honored and excited to join the team and contribute to the continued success of the athletic program. I look forward to working closely with the student-athletes, fellow coaches, and staff to foster an environment of growth, excellence, and teamwork. I am eager to begin this new chapter and bring my passion, skills, and experience to the role. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity. I am enthusiastic about the work we will do together and am committed to supporting the college's mission and values."
Paluszak will begin his duties as head coach in early October.
