Men's Soccer Defeats Piedmont in an Exciting Senior Day Match

MARYVILLE, Tenn. -- Maryville College men's soccer celebrated Senior Day in style on Saturday afternoon, defeating Piedmont 2–0 at the MC Soccer Complex. The Scots (3-2-4, 1-0-0 CCS) broke through in the second half to secure their first conference win of the season.

After a scoreless first half, the Scots wasted little time applying pressure in the final 45 minutes. In the 59th minute, Will Gallaher capitalized off a corner, finishing a feed from Brady Hammer to put Maryville ahead 1–0. The Scots doubled the lead in the 80th minute when Oumar Kamara buried a chance created by Warren Hurst, sealing the match for the home side.

Maryville's defense stood firm throughout, anchored by goalkeeper Christian Alcaraz, who posted a clean sheet with one save. The Scots outshot the Lions 14–6, including a 7–1 edge in shots on goal, while also holding strong on 11 Piedmont corners.

The victory capped off a memorable Senior Day as the program honored its graduating players and sent them off with a crucial conference-opening win. Maryville now turns its attention to the road, looking to build on the momentum from a strong all-around performance.
