MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Maryville College men's soccer team celebrated its eight seniors with a 6-1 win over Millsaps on Friday night at the MC Soccer Complex.
The Scots (3-2-3, 1-0-0 SAA) scored three goals in each half to pick up their first conference win of the season. Uli Quinones, Brady Hammer, Ben Brophy, Dane Hammer and Ben Slay all found the back of the net, with Slay scoring twice. Jonathan Case led the way with two assists, while Will Brush, Brophy, Nate Riepe, Oumar Kamara and Cameron Harp each added an assist.
Quinones got Maryville on the board in the 13th minute with help from Brush. Millsaps tied things up shortly after, but the Scots responded in the 26th minute when Case found Brady Hammer to get ahead. Case then assisted Brophy in the 39th minute to give Maryville a 3-1 lead heading into the break.
Maryville kept things rolling in the second half, as Dane Hammer scored in the 50th minute off an assist from Brophy. Slay added two goals late in the match, first scoring in the 77th minute off assists from Riepe and Kamara before finding the back of the net again in the 85th minute on a pass from Harp.
The Scots finished with 12 (8) shots in the match, including eight in the second half, as they closed out Senior Day with a dominant win.
Maryville also recognized eight seniors before the match: Andrew Thomas, Will Brush, Will Gallaher, Jacob Brabson, Uli Quinones, Ben Slay, Drew Moore and Hyatt MacDonald.
Brush has appeared in 58 matches during his career, recording three assists, while Gallaher has played in 62 matches and tallied four goals and one assist. Quinones scored his second career goal with Friday's opening goal, and Slay recorded the first two-goal game of his career.
MacDonald has recorded nine career goals and one assist in 28 appearances. Moore has appeared in 46 matches with one assist, while Brabson has played in 39 matches and Thomas has made 15 appearances for the Scots.
Throughout their careers at Maryville College, the class has compiled an overall record of 25 wins, 21 losses, and 15 ties, including a 9-5-4 record in conference play. They have made two Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) semifinal appearances, won one CCS Tournament Championship, and earned one NCAA Tournament appearance. The class has also earned three United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Awards.
Maryville will be back in action Sunday, October 4, hosting Rhodes at the MC Soccer Complex. Kickoff is set for 2:30 PM.
