KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Maryville's women's tennis team picked up their first win of the season in dominant fashion, skillfully taking it home 7-0, hosted by Goodfriend Tennis Center, courtesy of The University of Tennessee.
The positive momentum started in doubles, with #1 pair Calliana Kondolios and Mckena Spencer taking down their opponents 6-1. #3 position Josie Mcrae and Jasmine Muecke clinched the point, winning their match 6-4, and #2 pair Maggie Hackney and Clara Plass completed the sweep, taking their match 7-5.
Singles was more of the same from the Scots, with Muecke routing her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at the #3 position in 51 minutes. Shortly after, Spencer collected her first collegiate singles win 6-1, 6-1 at the #1 slot, sending Maryville up to 3-0 in a flurry. To clinch, Plass collected her first collegiate singles win by defeating her opponent in dominant fashion 6-,1 6-0 at the #4 slot. Kondolios won her entertaining match at the #2 position 6-4, 6-3; Hackney took her first collegiate win at #5 singles, defeating her opponent 6-0, 6-0, and Mcrae completed the Scot sweep by winning her match 6-3, 6-2 at the #6 position.
Maryville looks to keep their positive momentum from this match at home against Hanover College on February 27th at 1 p.m.
