MARYVILLE, TENN. – The Maryville Men's Soccer team kicked off its 2026 season with a scoreless draw against Marietta on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Ryan Buie led the Scots with four shots, including two on goal, in 64 minutes of play. Ethan Denney and Brady Hammer each recorded two attempts, while Hyatt MacDonald, Ben Brophy, Jonathan Case, and Lincoln Unger each added a shot.

Maryville recorded two shots early in the match, with Hammer firing off an attempt just under four minutes into play before adding another at the 7:38 mark. The Scots' first shot on goal came from Buie in the 23rd minute, but a save from the Marietta goalkeeper kept the match scoreless. Denney followed with Maryville's second shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but Marietta again came up with the save.

Buie recorded the Scots' final shot on goal early in the second half, putting an attempt on frame in the 50th minute. Marietta once again made the save, and despite multiple scoring opportunities throughout the remainder of the match, neither team was able to find the back of the net as the contest ended in a 0-0 draw.

Tanner Ricks made his season debut in goal, playing all 90 minutes without facing a shot on goal.

The Scots return to action tomorrow, September 6, at 3:30 PM, when they take on the Fighting Quakers of Wilmington.
