MC baseball began as the "reckless baseball club" on February 7th, 1876 when a group of students wanted to form the first baseball club on campus. Since then, baseball has been played at Scotland Yard continuously for the last 150 years, making it one of, if not the oldest, continuously used baseball fields in the world. Very few programs can claim they have been around for 150 years.Â
This year we celebrate the 150
th anniversary of the founding of the baseball team on campus, and we kicked off the season with a First Pitch Banquet on February 7th, exactly 150 years after the creation of the team. This season, the team will begin their season on February 13
th against Hampden-Sydney College at the Joe Ferebee Classic, hosted by Pfeiffer College, in Misenheimer, N.C. The team was picked by CCS (Collegiate Conference of The South) coaches to win the league this season, after winning the regular season crown last year, and the regular season and tournament championship the year before.Â
MC baseball made a historic run in 2025, making the NCAA Regional in Lynchburg, Virginia, marking the team's first NCAA appearance since 1977.Â
