Albert Long-Hill

Maryville head coach Ben Fox announced in July 2022 that Albert Long-Hill joined the Scots Football staff as an assistant coach overseeing the defensive line.

Long-Hill's first two seasons have seen him make an immediate impact on the defensive front. Jonathan Harris has earned a pair of All-USA South honors, including a First Team selection in 2023 after he was the top Scots D-lineman in tackles and TFLs, and tied for the D-line lead in sacks. Mike Bethea picked up All-USA South Second Team notice thanks in part to a clinching 78-yard interception return for touchdown against Belhaven in overtime. The 2024 season saw Alex Mase (2nd Team) and Jonathan Harris (1st Team) earn all-conference honors in arguably the best season in Scots football history.

The Scots as a team in 2023 finished No. 5 in the nation against the run (59.8 yards per game) and 19th in total defense (253.9), and in 2024 ranked 8th nationally in total defense (234.6 yards per game) and 15th nationally against the run (73.5 yards per game).

Long-Hill arrived after four coaching stops in the Knoxville area. His most recent post was a playoff season at The King's Academy in Seymour under head coach Jonathan Sellers. King's in 2021 went 8-4 and advanced to the Division II-A state quarterfinals. The 55-36 Lions victory over Franklin's Grace Christian Academy was just the second postseason triumph in program history.

Played, Coached at Austin-East

The Knoxville native began his coaching career with a three-year stint at Austin-East High School working for head coach Robert Gillard. He followed that with three seasons at Knoxville Central High School under head coach Bryson Rosser, and three seasons at Karns High School under head coach Brad Taylor.

Long-Hill earned his bachelor's degree in physical education from Lane College in Jackson, and then received his master's degree in education from Bethel University in McKenzie. He played three seasons of football at Lane after playing locally at Austin-East High School.

"I want to start by thanking God for his guidance and his love," Long-Hill said. "I want to give a special thanks to Sara Quatrocky, Ben Fox and David Martin. It is an honor to have my first collegiate coaching position and an honor to be part of this team and staff. To everyone who has been a part of my life and a part of this journey, I wholeheartedly thank you and express my gratitude.

"To my dad, Albert Mclendon, my mother, Annette Long, and my wife who is my world, thank you all for walking with me during this journey and believing when no one else did. And for those I didn't name, know every drop in the ocean counts and I would never forget those who helped me sail through troubled waters for they deserve a part of this reward."

He is married to Tiffany Long-Hill, and they are the parents of Ariah and Albert Jr. Long-Hill and his family attend Rodgers Memorial Baptist Church, and he is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.
