Dana Hummel joined Maryville Athletics as Office Manager in May 2022.
Hummel arrived after six years as an Education Assistant for Maryville’s Coulter Grove Intermediate School. There, she assisted with special projects, bettered school communication through social media and newsletters, and assisted teachers by creating and preparing documents, graphics, and displays. Through this, she used her proficient skills in word processing and data management. Hummel also spent a year helping the school’s Information and Technology Department while continuing to fully manage her clerical and secretarial tasks.
Previously, Hummel had worked with several construction companies: Volunteer Maintenance from 2006 to 2007, Hickory Construction from 2007 to 2009, and Knoxville Decking Crew from 2011 to 2015. During that time, Hummel was a Project/Office Manager in charge of handling various tasks. Those included creating proposals for job sites; reviewing projects with owners, managers, and/or constructions superintendents; determining timelines per project that regarded the scope of work, schedule, materials, approach, and estimate; and working on various tasks in-between. Those working with Hummel called her “the type of person who likes to take a hands-on approach in her work and has an amazing can-do attitude.”
While at Ruby Tuesday Inc., from 1999 to 2006, Hummel worked in the Real Estate, Marketing, and Facilities departments. She also worked as an Assistant for Oak Ridge National Laboratory from 1992 to 1999, winning numerous awards for her outstanding performance.
Hummel graduated from Maryville High School and then earned her AAS in Information Systems Technology from Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville. Originally from Georgia, Hummel considers Maryville her home, having progressed through academics in the city and spent 40-plus years here. She and her husband, Tony, have two children: a son, Garrett; and a daughter, Alyssa.
