Jake Woods joined the Maryville Scots as an athletic communications assistant in January 2025.
Woods arrived after 1½ years at Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville, where he helped the school get its athletics program off the ground in 2023-24. Woods oversaw the founding of the athletic communications office for 12 sports under the guidance of Panthers Director of Athletics Brock Evans. He led all communications. statistical record keeping, and promotional efforts for the department, while also assisting in game day operations, travel coordination, and overseeing the department's interns.
Before landing at Pellissippi State, Woods spent the 2023 season as Assistant Media Relations Director for the Tennessee Smokies, the Double-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Woods earned his first taste of athletic communications as a student assistant, first at Georgia State and then at Tennessee. While at Georgia State, Woods handled Sports Information duties for women's tennis and women's track & field and cross country, while also assisting with football duties on game days. At Tennessee, he assisted with women's tennis SID duties, historical projects for football and men's basketball, and assisted in game day duties for football, men's basketball, baseball, and women's tennis.

His background at UT and with the Smokies contributed to his success at Pellissippi, and we look forward to Jake transferring those skills here to Maryville and helping us continue to climb."
The Knoxville native earned his undergraduate degree in Recreation and Sport Management from the University of Tennessee. He is working toward a Master's in Sport Management from East Tennessee State University.

Woods and his wife, the former Lexi Sterling of Winchester, Indiana, are the parents of a son, Archie. They reside in Knoxville.
