Luke Wheat joined the Maryville College coaching staff in time for the 2023 season as goalkeeper coach for both the men's and women's soccer programs.

He first arrived at Maryville College fall 2015 and graduated in spring 2019. During that time, Wheat played on two conference championship and NCAA tournament teams.
 
During his goalkeeping career at MC, Wheat held an .833 save percentage and earned USA South Academic All-Conference his first year. 
 
The Pikeville, Kentucky, native earned a bachelor's degree in international studies and a minor in Spanish. He added a post-baccalaureate degree in education, which he uses as a Spanish teacher at Webb School in Knoxville.
