Caleb Johnston joined the Scots as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in August 2023.
He came to Maryville after working for two years at Bridgewater College in Virginia and with the Bristol Stateliners collegiate baseball team. At Bridgewater, Johnston was an Assistant Athletic Trainer, working primarily with men’s soccer, women’s basketball and softball while assisting with the tennis programs and spring field hockey. With the Stateliners, Johnston served as Head Athletic Trainer and traveling coordinator.

He spent 18 months as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for all men’s programs at Milligan University and assisted with women’s programs of swimming, volleyball, softball, basketball and flag football. Before that, he was an Athletic Training Intern at Point University in Georgia and worked with football, tennis and swimming and softball programs. Previous posts saw Johnston at the University of Lynchburg in Virginia and with the Bristol Pirates of minor league professional baseball.

Johnston completed his education in his home state of Virginia, obtaining a master’s degree in Athletic Training from the University of Lynchburg while graduating from Emory & Henry College with a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies of Science.
