Maryville College softball welcomes a familiar face back to the dugout as former Scot Morgan Corland returns to her alma mater as the program's pitching coach.
Corland, who competed for the Scots from 2016-19, returns to the program after a four-year playing career that saw her make 30 appearances in the circle, including 20 starts. She finished her Maryville career with a 14-9 record, a 3.87 ERA and 68 strikeouts across 123.1 innings pitched, recording 10 complete games and three shutouts.
One of Corland's strongest seasons came in 2017, when she posted a 1.83 ERA over 59 innings. She recorded seven wins, five complete games and 30 strikeouts while holding opposing hitters to a .253 batting average.
Now, Corland will bring her experience and competitive approach back to the program, working directly with the Scots' pitching staff as Maryville looks to build on its continued success.
Head Coach Bayleigh Masterson expressed her excitement about welcoming Corland back to the program, highlighting the impact she made during her playing career and the value she will bring to the coaching staff.
"I am personally so excited and thankful to be able to welcome Morgan back home and onto our coaching staff! Morgan has played a huge role in our championship runs in previous seasons, and I am so thankful she is willing to give back to our program!"
Masterson also pointed to Corland's vision for the pitching staff and the energy she has already brought to the role.

For Corland, the opportunity to return to Maryville represents a chance to give back to the program that helped shape her as both a player and a person.
"I'm incredibly excited to be back at my alma mater and have the opportunity to give back to the softball program that gave me so much during my time at Maryville College," Corland said.
"Maryville is truly a special place that gave me some of my best memories, lifelong friendships, and experiences that have shaped who I am today."
Corland also expressed her appreciation to the coaching staff for welcoming her back and entrusting her with the development of the Scots' pitchers.
"A special thank you to Coach Masterson and Coach Jen for welcoming me back, trusting me to work with the pitchers, and giving me the opportunity to contribute to the continued success of the program," Corland said. "I'm incredibly grateful to be back where it all started and excited for what's ahead!"
