    Assistant Track & Field Coach

Sam Greenspan joined the Maryville College track & field staff as an assistant coach, bringing experience in sprints, hurdles, and jumps along with a strong background in athlete development and program organization.

“We are very excited to have Sam joining the track and field program,” said head coach Kunle Lawson. “His expertise, eagerness, and his ability to connect with student-athletes will make him a great addition to the program. I’m looking forward to seeing his impact on the young men and women under his watchful eye.”

Greenspan arrives in Maryville after serving on the coaching staffs at Crystal Lake South High School in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Since 2023, he has been heavily involved with the school’s track & field program, working as the varsity indoor head coach and coaching sprints, hurdles, and high jump athletes. In that role, he oversaw daily practice planning, athlete conditioning, competition preparation, and individualized weight programs tailored to each event group.

In addition to his track & field experience, Greenspan also coached football at Crystal Lake South, serving as the varsity defensive backs coach and junior varsity defensive coordinator. His responsibilities included film breakdown, self-scouting, developing defensive game plans, and managing Hudl and live stat tracking, further sharpening his analytical and detail-oriented coaching approach.

Greenspan earned a bachelor’s degree in business management and administration with a concentration in sports management from Augustana College. During his coaching tenure, he helped develop multiple all-conference performers across sprint and hurdle events, including the 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles, 200m, and 400m.
