Cathryn Jayne "C.J." Dake begins her fourth season assisting the Scots basketball program in 2016-17.
Dake earned her Bachelor of Arts degree specializing in physical education from Maryville College in May of 2012. A standout for the Scots, this Farragut High School graduate was chosen as a team captain during her junior and senior campaigns in the orange and garnet.
C.J. will continue her work with the post players this season, but her duties and influences resonate throughout the program. Along with player development, she serves the program as recruiting coordinator, travel coordinator, film coordinator, and strength and conditioning coach.
Just as she did as a player, C.J. is helping this program reach great heights in a variety of ways. Since joining the staff, the team has won three consecutive conference championships and the program's first-ever USA South Tournament crown, while winning more than 83% of its games. S
She's helped lead the Scots to three-straight NCAA Tournament appearances, as the Scots hosted the first and second rounds of the 2015-16 national tournament. She helped propel Maryville to the Sweet 16, only a mark three other teams had reached in MC women's basketball history.
“C.J. is an integral part of this program, and is a tireless worker," Head Coach Darrin Travillian said. "Her dedication to and passion for this team are infectious, and our entire roster benefits from her tutelage and expertise.”
C.J. has helped Maryville to a 74-15 mark during her tenure as an assistant coach, while aiding the Scots to record-breaking seasons in 2014-15 and 2015-16. In each of the past two years, Maryville has broken the program record for wins in a season with matching 26-4 marks.
She has helped the Class of 2016 - both as a player and assistant coach - to become the winningest class in program history, as the class ended their career with a 98-20 mark.
