Kandis Schram continues to pile up the victories and the awards during her remarkable run at Maryville College.

Schram began her career at Maryville College in the summer of 1985, and her first head coaching season of 1986 produced the initial 17 victories of a total that has reached into the loftiest realms of NCAA Division III volleyball history. 

She proudly served the College as Director of Athletics from 2008-20 while continuing her post as the head volleyball coach. Prior to her being the Director of Athletics, Schram held the position of Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator.  

Schram ranks second nationally among active NCAA Division III volleyball coaches in career victories with 849, and she is fourth on the all-time list. She has an impressive winning percentage of better than 65 percent over her remarkable career.

She has led the volleyball program to 13 NCAA tournament appearances, two WIAC Conference Championships, eight Great South Athletic Conference regular-season titles, nine GSAC Tournament crowns, five USA South regular-season titles, and four USA South Conference Tournament championships.

An alumnus of Maryville College in 1985, Schram has received many accolades as a coach and an athlete. Over the past 35 years, she has been honored many times by her peers; receiving the AVCA South Region Tachikara Coach of the Year in 1989 and numerous Conference Coach of the Year Awards. She was named top coach in the Great South Athletic Conference on eight occasions (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2009) and has added four such awards from the USA South Athletic Conference (2013, 2014, 2019 and 2021).

Schram coached the Scots to a perfect 16-0 regular season and top seed from the Western Division in their final season of the USA South. The Scots ended the 2021 season riding a 38-match USA South regular season winning streak. Schram and her charges pushed that streak to 40 matches in 2022 before it came to an end.

She was honored with a Maryville College Young Alumni Citation, Kin Takahashi Award in 1999, and was inducted into the Maryville College Wall of Fame in October 2006. She added the Blount County Sports Hall of Fame certificate in November 2014. She also won the J.D. Davis Award as Maryville College's senior student-athlete of the year back in 1985.

Professionally, Schram has served on several NCAA committee positions: Championships Committee, National Volleyball Committee, Volleyball RAC, and currently a member of the Division III Management Council.  Additionally, she has served in an AD leadership role within the USA South Athletic Conference.

Schram has a passion to explore and share experiences through numerous international trips, with the most recent being a trip to Europe with the volleyball program in the summer of 2019. She is an active member of the Maryville community and promotes many service opportunities through many local organizations, including her church.
