Box Score The Maryville College men's basketball team dropped their third straight challenge with an 82-76 loss to visiting Birmingham Southern College on Sunday afternoon in MC's Boydson Baird Gymnasium.
The Panthers forced 15 first half MC turnovers and shot over 57% from the field to take a 51-39 lead into the half. Despite shooting 50% from the field and over 44% from the perimeter, Maryville could not gain ground as the visitors took advantage of Maryville's miscues.
Birmingham Southern continued their torrid shooting pace hitting 57% in the second half. Maryville gained ground by minimizing their turnovers, but their 46% shooting and 22% success rate from long distance allowed BSC to cruise to the six point victory.
The Panthers (7-3) were paced by Larry Thomas' 23 points. Thomas was 8-for-11 from the field and 5-for-6 from beyond the arc. Kevin Kegarise deposited three treys en route to a 16 point performance. Zac Richards was strong inside and finished with 15 points. Blaise White chipped in 10 points while dishing out eight assists.
Maryville (4-6) was paced by Wes Lambert's 21 points. The lone MC senior went 8-for-12 from the field while sinking three shots from long distance. Joey Bodewig added 13 points and six rebounds. Christian Ford dished out five assists while dropping ten points.
The Scots will return to action on Wednesday, January 2nd when they host USA South foe Averett University. Tip-of is slated for 7:00 p.m. in MC's Cooper Athletic Center.
