Eagles down Scots 3-1

Box Score
Eagles down Scots 3-1

The visiting Scots were unable to keep pace with the Emory Eagles on Wednesday night losing 3-1.

Emory did most of its damage early on taking a 2-0 lead into half time. Maryville would answer half way through the second period as freshman Conner McCarty (Knoxville/Bearden) scored his first collegiate goal to bring the score to 2-1. Unfortunately, the Scots would get no closer as Emory would score an insurance goal to end the game at 3-1. Maryville dominated the stat sheet with more shots on goal and more corner kicks, but were unable to capitalize on the chances.

"We played a good game tonight, but were unable to capitalize on the opportunities we had," said head coach Pepe Fernandez. "We've got a young group of talented players that don't know how to finish a college game and until we figure that out, we will have a lot of work to do."

The Scots drop to 0-1-1 on the season. Maryville will travel to Emory and Henry on Sunday to take on the Wasps. Game time is set for 3 pm.
