Box Score The Maryville College men's basketball team moved into third place in the USA South basketball standings with a 72-65 road win over Greensboro College on Saturday afternoon.
Maryville shot 50% (15-for-30) which included six treys to post a ten point halftime advantage. Although the Pride forced 22 MC turnovers, the Scots hit 42% of their second half shots and out rebounded the home team 43-28 to hold on to the seven point victory. Greensboro shot only 36% on the day and hit only six three-pointers in 22 attempts.
Greensboro (6-5, 1-2 USA South) was led by Damian Dixon's 24 points. He was 8-for-17 from the field and hit 3-of-7 treys. Luqman Tijani and Brian Thomas added 14 and 13 points respectively for the Pride.
Maryville (6-6, 3-2 USA South) was paced by Wes Lambert's 16 points on 4-of-10 shooting. Craig Raye went 4-for-6 from the field en route to a 14 point effort while Oscar Butler hit for 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Jaumonee Byrd and Jethro Griffin each added nine points to complete the key league road victory.
The Scots will finish their North Carolina road swing on Sunday when they challenge USA South rival Methodist University. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
