Box Score After jumping out to a 2-0 halftime lead, Maryville cruised to a 5-2 victory over LaGrange on Saturday in LaGrange. This win marks the 300th career victory as the head coach of the men's soccer program for Pepe Fernandez.
Patrick Braxton got the scoring underway in the first half when he found the back of the net wit the assist going to Brent Seltzer. The Scots would take a 2-0 lead when Tim Baker scored after a pass from Konner Dozark.
Baker would only be getting started as he would assist on all three second half goals for the Scots. The third goal for the Scots would be scored by David Lethco. Conner McCarty would score the fourth goal for the Scots before Braxton would end the scoring on the day for the Scots.
"I'm proud of how the guys played today," said coach Jon Baker. "I happy for Coach Fernandez, getting his 300th victory is quite an achievement. It shows his longevity and ability to win consistently throughout the years."
With the win, the Scots improve to 8-3-2 overall and 5-2 in USA South games. Maryville will travel to Ferrum this Friday for another USA South tilt. Game time is set for 4:00 pm.
