Box Score In a strong performance for the men from Maryville, the Scots defeated the Hawks of Huntindon 3-0 in men's soccer action on Saturday evening on the Campus of Maryville College.
Maryville would strike first as Sophomore Patrick Braxton would find the back of the net off of the foot of Freshman Tim Baker with 13:06 remaining in the first half. The Scots would out shoot Huntingdon 10-6 in the first half.
The Scots would add two insurance goals in the second half. The first would come with 33:38 remaining when Baker would work hard off a rebound to find the goal. Maryville would get the last goal with 19:49 remaining when Brent Seltzer used a beautiful no look heel kick from inside the penalty area when Thomas Palmer played the ball to him. Ben Munger would be outstanding in goal and earn the shut out.
"Our guys played hard tonight and earned a good win," said head coach Pepe Fernandez. "They managed to steal one off of us last year and it feels good to get back on the right track."
Maryville moves to 6-2-2 on the year and 3-1 in USA South action. Maryville will be back in action on Sunday when they host Methodist at 2:00 pm.
