Box Score Despite a double-double effort by Jaumonee Byrd, the Maryville College Scots men's basketball team fell to the Emory University Eagles in LaGrange College's Mariotti Gym on Saturday afternoon in the 2013 LaGrange College Classic.
Byrd, a sophomore post from Douglasville, Georgia, went 7-for-12 from the floor and 6-for-9 from the free-throw line while also pacing the Scots with 10 rebounds. Maryville shot 50% as a team from the floor with Oscar Butler hitting 4-of-8 shots for 11 points while Craig Raye went-3-for-5 for 10 points. MC was only 5-for-18 (27%) from long distance and 16-for-24 (66%) from the charity stripe.
Emory (4-2) was paced by Jake Davis' 25 point effort as the Eagles out shot MC from the perimeter and at the free-throw line. McPherson Moore added 19 points, including a 4-for-7 effort from beyond the arc, to help secure the victory for the Eagles.
Maryville (1-3) will conclude their holiday tournament in LaGrange with a challenge against Oglethorpe University on Sunday. Tip-off is slated for 3:00.
