Box Score 2 The Maryville College softball team dropped a USA South double header to Methodist University on Sunday afternoon on the MC campus by the scores of 6-1 and 4-3.
In the first matchup, Methodist pitcher Jessica Farmer limited MC to only a pair of hits by Megan Mihaliak and an RBI single by Hannah Youngdeer to earn a complete game victory to move to 7-6 on the mound this season.
The Scots' Lexie Randloph suffered the loss after striking out six Monarch hitters and scattering eight hits over seven innings of work.
In the series finale, Maryville's Kayla Aloisi surrendered only three earned runs in a complete game effort while scattering only eight Monarch hits. Methodist's Brittany Miller matched Aloisi's mound effort to earn the victory after her Monarchs broke a 2-2 tie with key runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Lindsay Tippett paced MU's offense with a 3-for-4 afternoon. Maryville's Jennie Burks, Caitlin Cox, and Taylor Dockery each had a pair of hits with Cox recording her first collegiate homerun.
Methodist advances to 12-10 on the season and 4-1 in USA South action. Maryville falls to 0-20 on the season and 0-8 in league play.
The Scots will host Birmingham Southern on Tuesday for a double header beginning at 1:00.
