Throughout the season, the Scots faced LaGrange four times and finished with a 3-1 record against the Panthers. In the first meeting, Catie Zani, Emma Blankenship, and Sydney Dickinson paced the offense with two hits each. Tia Stewart earned the win in the circle, facing 30 batters and allowing just one earned run over seven innings.
In the second matchup, Maryville again came out on top behind Paige Dickinson, who led the Scots with two hits. S. Dickinson threw five strong innings, facing 20 batters while allowing only two hits and striking out four.
During conference play, the teams split a doubleheader, giving Maryville a 1-1 mark in those contests. The Scots claimed the opener, 11-1, before falling 7-0 in the nightcap. In game one, S. Dickinson and Zani powered the offense with three hits apiece, and both added home runs. As a team, Maryville totaled 15 hits and 11 RBIs. Stewart tossed six innings, allowing just one run while facing 28 batters, and Whitney Carr closed out the victory with a scoreless final inning.
In game two of the regular season, LaGrange capitalized on Maryville's scoreless innings and broke through with a three-run homer to left field before adding two singles and taking advantage of a Scots error en route to the 7-0 win. S. Dickinson started and pitched 3.2 innings, allowing three earned runs while facing 20 batters. Freshman Watiyeli Taylor finished the game, surrendering only two hits over the final stretch.
Maryville struck first in the tournament matchup when Ryleigh Maples singled to right field in the third inning to score Kaylee Peyret. LaGrange answered in the fourth, tying the game before taking a 2-1 lead. Maples responded again in the fifth with a single down the left field line to score P. Dickinson and even the score.
The Scots erupted in the sixth inning to seize control. P. Dickinson singled to left to drive in a run, followed by Olivia Harris singling home Peyret. Desiree Nance then added an RBI single down the left field line to score P. Dickinson, and Maples capped the rally with a double to left that brought home Abby Woodard and Harris.
Maryville finished with 10 hits and seven runs while leaving 11 runners on base and striking out only once. Stewart threw the majority of the game, facing 25 batters and allowing just one earned run over six innings while striking out seven.
The Scots return to action tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. as they take on conference leader Belhaven in the CCS Championship quarterfinals.
