Box Score 2 The Maryville College softball team fell to Birmingham Southern in a non-conference doubleheader today by the scores of 6-1 and 8-3.
The Panthers pounded out nine hits in the first game of MC starter Lexie Randolph. The Scots' pair of errors allowed the visitors to tally six runs, only four being earned. Maryville accumulated four hits while striking out on eight occasions. Corey hairrell finished 2-for-3 for MC while Kalyn Jones posted a key RBI double to plate the Scots' lone run.
In the series nightcap, Birmingham Southern pushed their record to 15-7 on the season after a three-run third and a five-run fourth gave enough cushion for an 8-3 victory. A pair of Panther hurlers scattered seven hits as Deanna Creps moved to 3-2 on the season following 5.1 innings of work. MC's Kayla Aloisi suffered the loss after scattering eight hits in a complet game effort. Taylor Dockery, Kalyn Jones, and Ashley Braley each collected a pair of hits with Braley knocking in a pair of runs.
Maryville falls to 0-22 following the doubleheader sweep and will host Ferrum College in a USA South doubleheader on Wednesday beginning at noon.
