Box Score 2 The Maryville College softball team fell to Ferrum College in a USA South doubleheader by the scores of 18-3 and 12-0 on Wednesday afternoon on the Maryville College campus.
The Panthers connected for 15 hits in the first game while their pitcher held Scots' bats at bay with only four collective hits. Megan Mihaliak, Taylor Dockery, Corey Hairrell, and Kalyn Jones were the only MC hitters to collect base hits. Jones had a pair of RBI's on her double in the fourth inning. MC's Corey Hairrell suffered the loss on the mound.
During the league series conclusion, Maryville held Ferrum to only a 2-0 advantage until the Panthers pounced for 10 runs in the sixth forcing a run-ruled 12-0 loss for the Scots. Ferrum had only seven hits off MC starter Kayla Aloisi, but the visitors took advantage of walks and five MC miscues to outpace the Scots. Taylor Dockery, Corey hairrell, Caitlin Cox, Ashley Braley, and Andrea Brew each tallied hits for Maryville.
Ferrum advances to 16-6 on the season.
Maryville (0-24, 0-10 USA South) will now prepare for a USA South weekend road swing to challenge Salem College, Christopher Newport University, and North Carolina Wesleyan.
