Box Score 2 The Maryville College softball team fell to William Peace University in a USA South double header by the scores of 3-2 and 7-0 on Friday afternoon.
A sixth inning two-run homerun by Maryville College center fielder Taylor Dockery was not enough to lift the Scots past William Peace University on Friday afternoon. The USA South Pacers outscored MC 3-2 in the first game of a league double header on the Maryville campus.
Peace banged out a dozen hits hits while the Scots managed only a four hit attack. The Pacers put up a pair of runs in the third inning following an RBI double and a sacrifice fly. The game winner was supplied in the fourth inning by an infield single.
MC's Lexie Randolph fell to 1-13 on the season after scattering 12 hits and striking out five. Kayla Aloisi finished 2-for-3 for the game while Megan Mihaliak connected for the Scots fourth hit.
In the series finale, William Peace (7-22) scored a pair of runs in the fourth and five runs in the final inning to secure the shutout victory. Kayla Aloisi fell to 0-11 on the mound after striking out six Pacers while scattering 12 hits. A pair of William Peace hurlers combined to limit MC to four hits while striking out eight.
MC's offense was sparked by the hits of Mihaliak, Dockery, Kalyn Jones, and Andrew Brew.
Maryville falls to 1-29 on the season and 1-15 within the USA South. MC will host USA South foe Meredith College for a double header beginning at noon on Saturday.
