Box Score After falling behind 1-0 in the first half, Maryville was unable to answer in the second half and ultimately fell to Emory 4-1 in men's soccer action on Wednesday evening in Maryville, Tennessee.
Emory scored the only goal of the first half in the 29th minute. The Scots were outshot 5-3 in the first half.
The Eagles would add a second goal just four minutes into the second half. The lone bright spot came in the 56th minute of play as an Alex Waddell header found the back of the net off of a corner kick from David Lethco. Emory would add two late goals to make it a 4-1 final. Maryville did record 9 shots in the second half, the same as Emory.
"They are a good team and we weren't good enough tonight," said head coach Pepe Fernandez. "We had good energy but that just wasn't enough tonight."
The loss drops Maryville to 2-1-1 on the year. The Scots will be back in action Thursday when they host Johnson University at 4:00 pm.
