Box Score In a lopsided contest, Maryville's men's soccer team defeated Johnson 8-0 on Thursday afternoon in Maryville, Tennessee.
The Scots would strike for six goals in the first half with Tim Baker, Conner McCarty, Will Zuckerman, Konner Dozark, Sean Yoder and Payne Fisher all picking up goals. Brent Seltzer, Hayden Puryear, David Lethco and Patrick Braxton all picked up assists in the first half. Sophomore Jon Taylor played the first half and made a save on the only Johnson shot.
The second half was equally dominated by the Scots; however, Maryville only managed two goals in the second half as Conner McCarty and Will Zuckerman both scored their second goals of the game.
"We played well and executed," said head coach Pepe Fernandez. "We were able to play a lot of young faces and they were able to contribute."
With the victory Maryville moves to 3-1-1 on the year. The Scots will travel to Averett to open USA South play on Saturday. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
