Box Score The Maryville College men's soccer team extended their win streak to three with a 5-0 thrashing of USA South foe LaGrange College on Saturday on the MC campus.
The Scots put up a pair of goal is the first half after out shooting the Panthers 15-2 before the intermission. MC lit up the scoreboard when Cody VanKerschaever found Andrew Sullivan and the freshman from Leesburg, Georgia found the back of the net for his first collegiate goal at the 23:35 mark. Just four minutes later, Thomas Palmer found Hayden Puryear streaking towards the net and the sophomore from Gallatin, Tennessee deposited his third goal of the season to make the score 2-0.
Ten minutes after the break, Sean Yoder connected with Puryear for a goal at the 55 minute mark to give the Scots a 3-0 advantage. Just before the 73rd minute Seth Douthat took a Tim Baker pass a slipped it past LaGrange goalkeeper AJ Wilson for his second goal of the season. Conner McCarty completed the 28 shot campaign that MC unleashed on the afternoon with a final goal at the 79th minute. Bandon Baksh found McCarty for his first goal of the season to complete the 5-0 conference win.
MC's Ben Munger earned the win and shutout in goal for the Scots after turning away a pair of shots on goal. Maryville out shot LaGrange 28-4 on the afternoon.
The Scots advance to 9-4-1 overall and 5-2-1 within the USA South. LaGrange falls to 1-13 and 0-7 within the league.
Maryville will now prepare to host Ferrum on October 24th and Greensboro on October 25th to close out the regular season.
