Box Score The Maryville College Fighting Scots basketball team extended their wining streak to 11 games with an 82-75 non-conference road victory over Birmingham Southern College in Birmingham, Alabama late Tuesday evening.
The Panthers took a 28-18 lead in the first nine minutes of the game, but the Scots rallied with a 25-10 run to close the half with a 43-38 advantage.
Maryville promptly opened the closing period with a 12-3 run while hitting almost 57% of their shots. The Scots buried 45% of their long distance shots from beyond the arc while holding the Panthers to 38% shooting for the game.
Birmingham Southern (12-6) was led by the double-double of Larry Thomas. Thomas deposited 16 points while hauling down a game-high 10 rebounds. Griffin Schamp added 15 points on 50% shooting.
Maryville (15-6) was paced by four players scoring in double figures. Spencer Shoffner connected on three treys and seven free throws for 18 points. Oscar Butler went 7-for-10 from the field for a game-high 19 points while pulling down seven rebounds. Jaumonee Byrd was strong in the paint hitting 8-of-9 shots for 17 points while collecting a team-high eight boards. Point guard Christian Ford tossed in three three-pointer for 12 points while dishing out four assists.
The Scots will now prepare for a key USA South road trip this weekend when they travel to Huntingdon College and LaGrange College.
