Overtime Unkind to Scots 94-88

Box Score

Overtime was unkind to the visiting Maryville College Scots as LaGrange College snapped a 12-game winning streak by MC with a 94-88 OT league victory on Sunday afternoon in LaGrange, Georgia.

MC's Christian Ford put the Scots up 79-76 with just over a minute left in regulation, but LaGrange's Mark Wagner answered with a trey to send the game into an extra period.

LaGrange out paced Maryville 15-9 to claim the victory after taking care of their free throw opportunities and limiting MC to three baskets from the field in overtime.

Maryville (16-7, 11-1 USA South) was paced by J.P. Burris' 23 points. The senior hit 7-of-11 three-pointers. Christian Ford deposited four treys en route to a 22-point performance. Jaumonee Byrd deposited 14 points while collecting nine boards. Oscar Butler sank 16 points while grabbing a team-high 13 rebounds.

LaGrange advances to 14-9 on the season and 8-4 in USA South action.

Maryville will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Demorest, Georgia to take on the Lions of Piedmont College in another key USA South road challenge. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
