The Maryville College softball earned a doubleheader split against William Peace University on Friday afternoon in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The Pacers run ruled the Scots 9-1 in the first game behind a 12-hit offensive attack. Maryville's Kayla Aloisi (3-10) suffered the loss on the mound after surrendering eight earned runs in 4.2 innings of work. The Scots managed only four hits with Hannah Youngdeer, Megan Mihaliak, Jennie Burks, and Lexie Randolph collecting singles.
In the USA South series finale, MC's bats came alive with an 11-hit attack. The Scots took the nightcap 4-2. Megan Mihaliak finished 3-for-3 at the plate while Kayla Aloisi, Hannah Youngdeer, and Tiffany Brand each added a pair of hits. Aloisi connected for a two-run homerun to left-center field in the second inning. MC's Lexie Randolph earned her second win of the season by limiting Peace to five hits over a complete game effort. Randolph struck out three while allowing only a pair of earned runs.
Following the twinbill, Peace falls to 10-16 and 6-8 in the league while Maryville advances to 5-23 and 3-11 in USA South challenges. The Scots will conclude their six-game road trip on Saturday with a doubleheader at Methodist University.
