Box Score 2 The Maryville College softball program celebrated the career of senior centerfielder Taylor Dockery before today's doubleheader against Greensboro College. The career .304 hitter responded with a 3-for-7 effort with three runs scored, but it was not enough as the Pride took a pair of USA South challenges from the Scots 10-2 and 4-2.
In the series opener Greensboro pounded out 13 hits off MC starter Kayla Aloisi (3-15). Aloisi struck out six, but allowed nine earned runs in five innings of work. The Scots' offense tallied five hits. Megan Mihaliak and Tiffany Brand each doubled with Dockery, Kelci Swafford, and Jennie Burks each collecting singles. Jennie Burks and Kelci Swafford posted MC's only RBIs.
In the final match up, each offense accumulated 10 hits. MC's Lexie Randolph (4-16) suffered the loss after tossing seven complete innings and surrendering four earned runs. Jessica McMahan finished 3-for-4 at the plate with Dockery, and Swafford each recording a pair of hits. Hannah Youngdeer and Swafford tallied MC's pair of RBIs.
The Pride sweep advances Greensboro to 19-15 on the season and 12-8 in league play. Maryville falls to 7-31 overall and 5-19 within USA South action.
The Scots will not qualify for the USA South tournament in Rocky Mount, North Carolina next weekend. They will conclude their schedule hosting a doubleheader on April 19th against Emory University.
