The men's soccer team continues their late success improving to 6-2 on the season and 2-0 in conference.
The Scots of Maryville College defeated the Cougars of Averett University Sunday afternoon with a final score of 4-0. This marks the Scots sixth straight win and fifth shutout of the season. Maryville recorded 25 total shots, 16 on goal to Averett's 5 shots, 3 on goal.
Both teams were held scoreless in the first half with a score of 0-0 at half time. Randy Reichenberger would open up the scoring for Maryville connecting on his first goal of the season in the 56th minute on a cross from Cody VanKerschaever. Reichenberger put the Scots up 2-0 on an unassisted goal in the 61st minute. The Scots would pull ahead 3-0 on an unassisted goal form Hayden Puryear in the 81st minute. Payne Fisher scored the final goal of the game assisted by David Lethco retiring the Cougars 4-0 for the win.
Maryville will be on the road Friday against N.C. Wesleyan at 2:00pm.
