Box Score The Maryville College men's soccer team earned their first win of the season with a 3-0 shutout over Wilmington College (OH) at the 2014 David Taafe Invitational in Lookout Mountain, Georgia on Saturday.
Maryville keeper Ben Munger secured his first shutout of the season turning away three shots on goal while the Scots blasted nine shots on goal against the Wilmington keeper.
MC's Thomas Palmer found Payne Fisher ten yards in front of the net and Fisher recorded his first goal of the season in the 23rd minute.
Palmer beat keeper Daniel Wicks with a shot at the top of the box just before the 38th minute to give Maryville a 2-0 advantage.
Palmer, a sophomore from Kingsport, tallied his second goal of the season and match when his free kick at the 70th minute connected with the back of the net.
Maryville (1-2) will prepare to host Oglethorpe University on Wednesday evening. First touch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
