Box Score The Maryville College men's soccer team extended their unbeaten streak to 10 matches with a 2-0 shutout victory over USA South foe Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia late Wednesday evening.
A 17 shot first half produced Maryville's game-winner. Alex Waddell connected a pass to Tim Baker in the 25th minute allowing Baker to secure his 4th goal of the season.
Maryville's defense allowed only five first-half shots, keeping the Lions away from MC keeper Jon Taylor.
The Scots continued the offensive pressure on the Lions in the final period out shooting the home team 10-7. The Scots tallied an insurance goal in the 71st minute when Hayden Puryear connected with Waddell for his first goal of the season, a header past Piedmont keeper Kenneth Hearn.
Hearn recorded 10 saves on the evening in net for the Lions. Maryville's Taylor moved to 10-1-1 on the season in net following his four saves.
Piedmont falls to 3-7-3 on the season and 2-4-1 in USA South play. Maryville remains atop the USA South standings with an 11-1-1 overall record and 5-0-1 mark in league action.
The Scots will now prepare for "Senior Day" on Saturday, October 17th when they host Huntingdon College.
