Box Score The Maryville College men's soccer team jumped out to a 2-0 first half lead only to surrender a pair of second half goals to Huntingdon College. The USA South schools battled through a pair of overtimes to record a 2-2 double-overtime tie.
MC's Caleb Lucas blasted his 12th goal of the season just before the 22nd minute. The unassisted strike gave the Scots an early 1-0 lead.
Only eight minutes later, Maryville's George Davies sent his 7th goal of the season into the net giving the Scots a 2-0 lead at the intermission.
In the second period Huntingdon's Austin Stacey snuck a strike past MC keeper Jon Taylor in the 55th minute, who recorded five saves on the evening.
The Hawks' Dylan Wier tied the match 2-2 with his second goal of the season in the 69th minute.
During the pair of extra periods, Maryville out shot the Hawks 8-2 but could not get a shot by Hawk keeper Alex Brown.
The Scots out shot Huntingdon 31-13, but Brown's 11 saves preserved the league tie.
The push moves Huntingdon to 2-8-3 on the season and 1-4-2 in USA South play. Maryville moves to 11-1-2 overall with a 5-0-2 league record, placing them atop the USA South present standings.
Maryville will now prepare for a tough USA South road trip next weekend at Greensboro on Friday and Averett on Saturday.
