Box Score The Maryville College Scots earned a share of the USA South Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday, after MC defeated Greensboro College, 70-14.
Maryville finished the season with a 7-1 record in conference play, while finishing with their third USA South Championship crown. The Scots earn a share of the title with Huntingdon College, as the Hawks will walk away with the USA South automatic qualifier to the NCAA Playoffs behind the win over Maryville last week.
The Scots will hope for a nod from the NCAA during the Playoff show scheduled for tonight, Nov. 12, at 6 p.m. The show can be seen here: http://www.d3football.com/videolink/selection-show
Maryville's 70-point outing is the second in the past two seasons, as the Scots posted 70 points against Ferrum College last season. Last season's 70 points was the most by any Maryville College squad in 88 years. The last time the Scots hung 70 or more on the Honaker Field board was in 1927 – a 73-0 victory over Bluefield (Va.) College.
The most-ever scored by a Scots team was 103 over Union College (Ky.) in 1924.
MC amassed 650 yards on the day, 418 of those coming across the ground. The Scots averaged 9.03 yards per play on the afternoon.
Maryville's Ian Hubbs tied the school record for most extra points made and attempted in a game. The place kicker tallied a 10-for-10 effort to match Kyle Bennett's mark set last season against Ferrum. Alex Willard went 7-for-7 during the 2015 performance against Greensboro.
Maryville's Elijah Chenier has come so close to the MC single-game record for rushing yardage twice this season. The sophomore back missed that 253 mark set by Armond Akiboh in 1996 by only 10 yards today, tallying 243 yards. This marks his third 200-yard contest in the past four games, as he holds the second (243 yards), third (233) and fourth-ranked games (232) in school history in rushing.
Chenier carried 22 times for 243 yards and three touchdowns, while he averaged 11 yard per carry. Chenier also led all receivers with five catches for 74 yards.
Nick Myers had a huge day for Maryville, as he threw 15-for-21 for 232 yards and three touchdowns to Mac Seagle (1-for-58), Logan Winders (3-36) and Gianni Montgomery (1-for-33). Myers also scored a touchdown on three carries for 11 yards.

From there on out, it was all Maryville. The Scots would score a pair of touchdowns with only a two plays run.
Chenier needed only one play on the next drive after Gianni Montgomery's 24-yard return set the Scots up at their own 41-yard line. Chenier went 59 yards on the first carry, as Ian Hubbs' kick was good. Maryville led 21-14 with 3:40 left.
