Scots find their long-distance touch in 93-54 win over Brevard.

The Maryville College men's basketball team had four double-digit scorers to help push past USA South foe Brevard College 93-54 in Brevard, North Carolina late Wednesday evening.

 

The Scots used a torrid 65% shooting effort (17-for-26) including an 8-for-9 effort (88%) from beyond the arc to pull out to a 50-21 halftime advantage. Maryville's defense forced seven turnovers while holding the Tornados to a 34% shooting effort (9-for-26). Maryville's Calvin Songster finished the half with 11 points while going 4-for-4 from the floor and 3-for-3 from long distance.

 

Maryville outpaced Brevard by ten in the final period by maintaining a 55% shooting percentage from the floor (16-for-29) while still going 5-for-11 (46%) from the perimeter.

 

Maryville (17-7, 13-4 USA South) saw Songster finish with a game-high 18 points on 6-of-7 shooting while hitting 4-of-5 treys. The senior added six rebounds and six assists to the key road victory. Emier Bowman, Kaleb Estes, and Emanuelle Garcia each finished with 14 points. Garcia dropped 4-of-6 three-pointers while Estes was 5-for-6 from the floor including a pair of treys.

 

Brevard (5-19, 2-15 USA South) was led by Qadhafi Turner's 15 points while Eric Evans tallied 12 points off the bench.

 

Maryville will conclude their USA South regular season schedule on Saturday, February 16th when they travel to Covenant College. Tipoff is slated for 3:00 p.m.
